01 Respect Your Peers

RP is a hobby first and foremost and we are all here to have fun. This shouldn't need to be said, but have respect for those you talk and plot with and expect respect in return. If you feel like another member is disrespecting you, attacking you, or just making your life here on Ostensibly hell, please PM a staff member. Do not reciprocate or escalate a situation or you will be held accountable as well.

02 No Flaming, Baiting or Fishing for Sympathy 

Above all else this is a place of RP and peace and we will make sure Ostensibly stays that way. Drama between members and complaining about your own life CONSTANTLY will not be tolerated. We have no warning system. If we need to speak to you more than twice, we will smite you (ban).

03 No Godmodding

You only control your own character and no one else's. Do not try to assume control of a Hero that is not yours. Try not to puppet the NPCs too often or too rigidly, unless they are your own. While we're on the subject, try not to plague yourself with Main Character Syndrome - you cannot play a character that is perfect, flawless, or insanely famous without the roleplay to back it up.

04 Literacy

We do not discriminate or nitpick here with the quality of our members' writing, but that isn't to say that we will allow single line responses or consistently lacking paragraphs. When you roleplay here, you are expected to think out your responses and reply to the best of your ability to each post. Some working knowledge of English and grammar is anticipated.

05 Activity

Although we understand that real life is a constant damper on roleplay and takes absolute priority, members are expected to be at least halfway active. This means please try to be proactive about telling your roleplay partners of your absences, and be up front about your usual availability. Repeated cycles of joining and abandoning your RP partners might warrant a timeout. 6 months of activity strips your rights to a face claim, until you return to claim it. Being active in the discord counts as maintaining activity.

06 Accounts and Alts

Your main account should be your OOC name, and each subsequent one should bear your character's Hero Name. We understand that you are most likely going to want multiple characters, and you are allowed to make sub-accounts to your main via proboards, but you will only start with three (3) allotted slots. The last character you made will need their bio and inventory approved before the next can be accepted.

One (1) character per account.

07 Face Claims

Here on Ostensibly, we use the common face claim thread that most current roleplay sites are using. When choosing your face claim, please check [[ this ]] thread first to make sure someone hasn't already called dibs. This is to prevent multiple Heroes from running around with the same face. If you want to use gender swapped versions or alternates to a canon character (in media like Genshin Impact), you'll need to ask permission from the player who claimed the original. Doubles are not allowed unless characters are twins, but both players need to be enthusiastic about this decision - and it needs to make sense within the lore of Ostensibly.
